Kim’s Place is entirely volunteer-run, and our campus thrives on the hands, skills, and hearts of our community. From cultivating our grounds to executing major building improvement projects, your time directly creates a thriving support hub for our residents, families, and community members.
For those who want to volunteer directly within our shared living environments, this team focuses on building relationships, bringing joy, and providing steady support to our residents.
Young Adult Companionship & Activities: Spend meaningful time with the young adults in the home. This includes helping with educational goals, playing board games, sharing hobbies, or simply providing a positive, supportive presence in their daily lives.
Resident Support & Connection: Offer companionship and a listening ear to the individuals we care for, helping them feel connected, valued, and included in the household community.
Life-Skills Mentorship: Help guide residents through everyday household workflows, collaborative problem-solving, or practicing independent living skills in a safe, family-style environment.
If your passions lean toward nature, organization, or daily community connection, these teams keep our essential day-to-day resources flourishing.
The Community Garden Team: Help design, plant, and maintain our campus gardens. This team focuses on cultivating fresh produce to directly stock our food pantry and creating beautiful, therapeutic outdoor spaces for residents and neighbors.
The Pantry & Closet Team: Keep our grassroots resource hubs organized. Volunteers help inventory, stock, and manage checkout logistics for both The Food Pantry and the Supply Lending Closet.
Life-Skills & Navigation Support: Help connected community members collaborative-problem-solve complex logistics, resource navigation, and daily household workflows.
If you enjoy working with your hands, building, or troubleshooting infrastructure, our campus has immediate, rewarding opportunities to keep our property safe, accessible, and running efficiently.
Handyman & Property Upkeep Team: Perfect for general DIYers. Tasks include routine facility maintenance, painting, furniture assembly, and handling minor repairs throughout the building.
Skilled Trades & Improvement Projects: We are actively seeking licensed and skilled tradespeople (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians) to collaborate on structural upgrades, accessibility modifications, and major renovation phases.
Supply Procurement, Pickups & Logistics: Assist with the heavy lifting and transportation of resources. This includes driving to pick up food donations from regional food bank distribution centers, collecting items from local donation partners, and managing bulk shipments procured through the World Vision Storehouse program.
We scale our resource capacity by combining local grassroots generosity with large-scale institutional partnerships.
Institutional Supply Lines: Through the World Vision Storehouse program, we regularly source bulk household items, building materials, and essential goods to support our cooperative housing models and the broader community.
Community Drop-offs: We accept high-quality, functional tools, independent living aids, and non-perishable pantry items from local neighbors.
Current High-Priority Needs:
Bulk household items and cleaning essentials
Gardening tools, soil, and seeds
Building materials and construction hardware
Adaptive daily living aids & mobility equipment
Shelf-stable, dietary-specific grocery items
Bedding in Queen and King size
