At Kim’s Place, we don't operate like a traditional facility. We are a family-style, Shared Living Arrangement. Our mission is to provide a permanent, stable "Forever Home" where every person under our roof is a vital part of the household's success.
In most group homes, there is a divide between "staff" and "residents." At Kim’s Place, we bridge that gap through a Shared Shareholder Model. We believe that if you live in the home, you should be invested in the home.
Pooled Community Resources: Our residents and our House Parents both contribute directly to the financial needs of the household.
Paying for the Forever Home: Together, residents and House Parents pool their monies to cover the mortgage and shared utilities.
Building Security Together: By having everyone contribute to the mortgage, we ensure that the home is a collective achievement. This isn't just a place to stay; it is a "Forever Home" that everyone is helping to build and protect.
As a non-profit, Kim’s Place has a strict No-Profit Housing Policy:
No Room and Board Fees: We never charge residents a "Room and Board" fee for profit.
100% Direct Impact: Because both residents and House Parents contribute to the actual house bills, 100% of those funds are used to pay for the roof over their heads. No one "makes money" off of someone else’s need for a home.
While the household costs are shared by those living in the home, the professional caregiving services are funded through state partnerships:
Need-Based Stipends: The state provides a caregiving stipend for residents, which is calculated based on each individual’s specific needs.
Professional Standards: These funds are used strictly for the professional care, medical coordination, and 24/7 staffing required to help our residents thrive.
We believe that transparency is the key to a successful shared home. Our ledgers are open to our resident shareholders and their families, ensuring that everyone knows exactly how their contributions are protecting the future of their Forever Home.
